I photographed the wedding of Sophie and Tom at the beginning of September 2021. Originally the reception was going to be in Wick, but they picked the Great House Hotel for their wedding breakfast instead, which I was happy with as I love the look and feel of the building – I love old architecture.
Sophie and her maids got ready in Sophies house in Bridgend, it was a very relaxed morning.
Sophie and Tom said their I do’s at St Julius and Aarons Parish Church, Llanharan, on a lovely Sunny afternoon, with lots of light coming through the gorgeous stained glass windows.
After the ceremony, confetti and a few family groups we made our way to the Great House, Laleston, I wanted to make sure I was there first to photograph the reception room before any of the guests to ensure I photographed a tidy decorated room.
I photographed the groups and candids in the garden while everyone had fun chatting and catching up.
After food and speeches we made our way to Ogmore By Sea for portraits. Sophie had suggested she really wanted this, but with the hectic nature of the day they were on the fence about going there, but the weather was perfect for them so I urged them to rethink, after all you only get the one chance and you know what I say, a little change of activity slows everything down and gives you the chance to spend time with your other half without the distraction of others.
We had the best time there, the warmth of the sun and the sound of the waves lapping against the shoreline will always have a special memory associated with it.
They had their first dance on the lawn at the Great House with the talented Alun Roberts Music performing his accoustic version of ‘Ain’t Nobody’ while everyone cheered them on.
