In July 2021, I photographed the wedding of Kirsten and Tomos, it was their second date and instead of having all of their celebrations at the venue which was originally planned, they chose to have the party at a location closer to home.
Kirsten and her girls got ready at a lovely barn conversion in Llancayo, Usk. Once ready I photographed a few groups with her family and bridesmaid, and we made our way to Brecon.
I got to the venue before the rest of the bridesmaids and brides car, so photographed Tomo’s and his best sister, his daughter, parents and candids of everyone else anticipating the brides arrival. At the beginning of the ceremony masks were required, but the bride and groom were then allowed to take them off, looking back its hard to remember what part of the pandemic we were in, I think at that point you were allowed to take them off at your seat.
Welcoming the new husband and wife!
After some confetti we then proceeded to do some family group photos in the sunshine.
After some time to celebrate with their friends and family we used the Barns gardens to do some lovely portraits with the Beacons in the background before leaving for the reception venue.
Kirsten and Tomos wanted to stop for some portraits on the way to the reception, and ensured there was time written in for this, so we bypassed a place named Keeper’s Pond on the way, the photo above was taken on the way up the mountain, with an amazing view beyond.
Instead of going to Keeper’s Pond we parked in a nearby car park and used a quiet area, as it was a very hot day the pond was very popular and the car park was full, which would have an impact on other people in the photos, which we wanted to avoid. This other spot was gorgeous with long grasses and trees.
After arriving at the reception location the happy couple was able to unwind and enjoy with their loved ones. They hired a fish and chip van to feed everyone, and I think everyone enjoyed this as the idea of having a three course cooked meal on a hot day was too much. When the sun went down out came the sparklers for some fun. During this time weddings were very different and everyone was just happy to be together.
