I first met Karla and Rhodri at a wedding fayre, It was one of the quietest fayres I’ve ever done. I was sat there at my stall, that I wasn’t there to push them into anything – that I wanted them to look at my work. They liked that I wasn’t pushy so got in touch. They were originally meant to get married in 2020, but again we all know what happened that year, prime Summer dates had already been taken for the year 2021, so 2022 was chosen.
They both got ready at West House hotel in Llantwit Major. As it was the same hotel it was easy to pop between their rooms to capture the preparation.
Karla dressed apart from her bridesmaids so that she could have a big reveal, and as Rhod had already left for St Donats it could be done outside in the garden.
The castle was incredibly impressive with the ceremony setup in the courtyard. The guests were positioned in the full sun whilst the spot for the bride and groom would be in the shadow, this posed challenges but it was workable.
The ceremony was beautiful and afterwards we headed straight off to the beach for photos, this was the best time as they had hired a car for a certain amount of time.
Down at the beach it was incredibly windy, showing lots of drama.
After the beach we returned to the castle to celebrate, I took this time to capture lots of gorgeous candids in the sun. After some time I started the family group shots.
Before they called everyone in for food I captured the tablescapes, cake and florals.
In the early evening we headed to the rose garden for portraits. It was incredibly beautiful there with a mixture of roses and climbing roses on the pagoda to photograph through. This along with the evening light made it even more magical. They wowwed their guessed with a choreographed first dance and danced the night away.
