Well the year 2020 has been awful I think we can all agree there, and we’re all a little anxious as to what 2021 will bring. Without going onto all the forums, chatting to others that don’t know and getting worried I’d like to give you a little hope.

RECENT NEWS: Boris Johnson acknowledges the wedding industry and reassures couples and businesses about weddings in the Spring and Summer of 2021.
“If you’re thinking about the summer, I think you’ll be alright… it is my strong hope and belief that by the summer, one way or the other, whether delivered by vaccination (which I hope will be delivered by Easter) or by lateral flow testing, it will be a different world.” – Boris Johnson

Saying this though no-one really knows what will happen so if you really NEED to postpone here’s what you should do when it comes to your photography. I need to make sure everyones aware of the process to ensure no-ones left disappointed or unaware.
Weddings up until the end of March 2021
Get in touch with your venue and ask for a few dates to go back to your suppliers with, don’t pencil in a date until you have agreed it with your suppliers or at least the suppliers you don’t want to lose.
In September, Boris Johnson mentioned the 6 months of winter, until 31st March 2021 and the repercussions it would have with different events and industries. As its within the 6 months of winter if you have to cancel then you will be entitled to a refund of your booking fee, the 6 months make the contract frustrated.
Weddings after 1st April 2021
As with any wedding postponements get in touch with your venue and ask for a few dates to go back to your suppliers with, don’t pencil in a date until you have agreed it with your suppliers or at least the suppliers you don’t want to lose.
If your decision is outside of the period of advisement from the Government or local Government (after 31st March 2021 as stands) and you can’t agree on a new date due to an existing booking, then your booking fee may be lost due to works already completed as in conjunction with your existing contract, this is because you have made the decision and it hasn’t been forced or frustrated.
So…
Really make sure you check dates not to lose out. I’ve got to know each and every one of you and I really don’t want to lose you either.
Also, please remember its currently Winter, the virus is at its worst during this period as it loves the cold, numbers are high because of this. Summer weddings will look much different and theres a lot of positivity that with the vaccination we’ll be in a different place.
Plus with everything the internet is the worst place for advice, just look at health related matters, looking up anything online and you’ll get the worst outcome and panic.
Huge hugs,
