At the end of May I photographed the gorgeous wedding of Sian and Huw at Fairyhill, Gower.
In the morning Sian and her family got ready at Mulberry House, a place I’ve photographed many times before, so while she spent precious time with her mum and girls, I started photographing her dress – and oh what a dress it was! beautifully shaped with a long detachable train, the first one of this kind I’d worked with, the perfect solution for show-stopping and removing for the dancing later.
After capturing her shoes and accessories, I started documenting the day – the prep, the makeup and people arriving, the cwtches (sorry I’m a Welsh girl, its the best word ever). At times during the day I like to stand back and capture everything as it happens, you may not even notice I’m there, these shots are always more natural – its always good to have a nice mix.
When her little niece turned up I remembered a meme I’d seen online with a little girl wearing heels, and ‘to give the photo to the girl on her wedding day’ and wanted to create a similar shot, so I got Sian’s shoes, we put them on the little one and took a few photos – so CUTE! inspiration is everywhere!
As the morning progressed the excitement grew, everyone was looking forward to the day ahead of them, especially Sian – she was ready, her makeup was perfect for her, not too much, still showing her beautiful sun kissed skin below. She was looking forward to seeing her best friend; Huw.
So the time came to leave Mulberry House and make our way to Fairyhill – a beautiful Georgian mansion set amongst 24 acres of land, near Reynoldston. The bridesmaids arrived first, and then the beautiful bride and her father. After some good luck wishes I made my way to the K room, a curved glass room perfectly constructed to show off the beauty of nature outside.
At the end of the aisle was the handsome groom; Huw, looking very smart in his Dyfed Menswear suit. I spent some time taking candid shots of him, the rings and his groomsmen/brothers.
And then it was time, you can always tell this – the registrar returns from the bride, the wedding co-ordinator comes in, it goes quiet. The music started and the beautiful bridesmaids walked down the aisle in pairs, all wearing TFNC dresses and bouquets from Love Lily, there was a slight pause and at the top of the aisle being watched by all her loved ones; Sian and her dad – about to have her last walk as a Miss to meet her Mister.
It was an amazing day filled with family, beauty and emotion. Take a look at the photos, and if you’d like to enquire, please get in touch.
