Last July I had the pleasure of photographing John and Aimee’s pre-wedding couple session at Three Cliffs Gower – a favourite location of mine! Well how can you not like the variation of historical castle, clifftop vistas, long grasses and a sandy beach – this location does take longer than most, but its well worth it!
After meeting at my usual car park we made our way up the steep path to the walk over the cliff tops, having a chat along the way. The light was gorgeous, the sky was blue and it was impossible not to be happy on a day like this. I used a few light poses, but nothing too elaborate. I love how they look like their just having a day out lots of fun and smiles, I remember there was some tickling involved!
I brought a few gorgeous Dahlias with me that day as I’d purchased them from Flowers by Arrangement, Treboeth, Swansea for a photoshoot a few days before that hadn’t happened because of rain, I wanted to make sure they were used as they were gorgeous and some of the biggest I’d ever seen! I used them for Aimees portrait as I loved how they looked next to her colourful dress – my favourite photo which I’ve featured shows her laughing, I love how happy she looks – and of course John had one as well.
From here we moved onto the clifftops for a few gorgeous couple shots and made our way down onto the beach to have some fun – when visiting a beach you know I’m always going to have you paddling (unless its Winter of course). Theres nothing as natural as you two having a splash fight, jumping in the air or just having fun! my challenge is capturing that moment when both your feet are in the air! The famous photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson spoke of the decisive moment, when the photographer would press their shutter to capture that moment in time, due to the development in technology and the invention of the continuous shutter I’m helped here as I can capture a few and know I’ve got it, without wasting lots of film – I’m very lucky.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading, have a scroll at those gorgeous photos.
